SAGEBURG COUNTY & HERAKLES WESTWOOD WIN
SAGEBURG COUNTY WINS AT SOUTHWELL
SAGEBURG COUNTY bounced back to form last Tuesday when he cruised home to win the planetsportbet.com Handicap Chase 2m 4f at Southwell under a cool ride from James Bowen. Sageburg County traveled strongly and jumped fluently, and James was able to sit and travel upsides all the way throughout the race, before leading 3 fences from home and going on to win the race cosily by 8 lengths!
You may recall a very similar performance from Sageburg County on his debut over fences back in May, when he was ridden by our Conditional Jockey Dylan Kitts, and he went for his summer holiday with the world at his feet!
It is great to see him get back to winning ways after his seasonal debut at the beginning of November saw him pulling up after hating the tacky, holding ground that day.
The dream is now very much alive again for Sageburg County and his owners Alan and Andrew Turner, who we are delighted seem to have a very smart horse on their hands!
HERAKLES WESTWOOD WINS AT LINGFIELD
Sageburg County’s win was quickly backed up last Thursday by HERAKLES WESTWOOD, who won the Racing App Novices’ Handicap Hurdle 2m 3f at Lingfield under a great ride from Sean Bowen.
Herakles Westwood has been a work in progress so far throughout his career, always showing promise and talent at home, but needing time to mature and strengthen before seeing the results on track. His owners The Albatross Club have been very patient and given Herakles Westwood all the time that he needed, and with every run he has had he has learnt a little bit more, and it was clear the penny was starting to drop.
Herakles Westwoord was positioned prominently throughout the race and jumped well, and when he came to challenge the leader 2 Hurdles from home, he really knuckled down to the task and galloped all the way to the line, winning by 4 lengths!
Congratulations to The Albatross Club, who are sure to have plenty more fun this season and beyond with Herakles Westwood!
