THE THOROUGHBRED INDUSTRY EMPLOYEE AWARDS
Last Monday was the Final of The Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards, where our very own Beth Nelson had made it through to the Final 3 of the David Nicholson Newcomer Award.
The Final was held at Ascot Racecourse and spanned the whole day, with Beth arriving early doors to meet her fellow finalists and enjoy a bit of breakfast together. Beth then went through her final interviews with the judges followed by Lunch.
The afternoon was really special; all the finalists were taken to the Royal Stables to meet all the King’s Carriage Horses which are used to pull the Royal Carriages in the Royal Ascot Parade and in Royal processions. They also met Queen Elizabeth II’s fell pony Emma, who Queen Elizabeth rode right up until her final months, and had a moving part in Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
The finalists then went behind the scenes to see all the carriages, from the ones used now, all the way back to Queen Victoria’s carriage!
After this, Beth and her fellow finalists got ready for the evening meal and Awards ceremony, where everyone made themselves very glam! The finalists were then joined by their evening guests- in Beth’s case her parents and Warren and Tessa who she very kindly invited.
The evening was brilliant, and Warren, Tessa and the whole team were hugely proud to see Beth finish as runner-up in the David Nicholson Newcomer Category! A massive achievement for someone who as been in the racing industry less than 18 months, to be whittled down from all the nominations to the final 3 in all of Great Britain is an outstanding achievement.
Well done Beth, not only for doing so well within the Awards, but also for progressing every day from the first day you came to work at Rhonehurst, and becoming an invaluable part of the team who is a pleasure to be around. We are so proud of everything you have achieved so far… Onwards and upwards!
