Last Tuesday saw Shillanavogy and Village Master head to Hereford, and we couldn’t be more pleased that they both brought home the bacon to give us a double on the day!
SHILLANAVOGY was up first, running in the Hereford Countryside Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle over 2m 3f. His first run since a wind op, Shillanavogy travelled strongly throughout the race and jumped with great fluency, taking up the lead on the home turn and pushed clear by James Bowen to win comfortably by 6 lengths! This performance was much more reminiscent of the work we have seen from Shillanavogy at home, and it was great to see him get his head in front following a couple of below-par runs. This run should give him plenty of confidence now and we should see him continue to progress, with surely a few more wins along the way!
It was great to have a first winner for the Both Ways Partnership, new to us this season, comprising of Ray and Mary Guadeloupe, and Jim and Claire Bryce, who are firm friends, and always enjoy a few laughs in each other’s company, and hopefully now a few more wins too!!!

VILLAGE MASTER was up next, running in the Racing App Handicap Chase over 2m 5f, on his debut over fences. Having seen him school and work at home, it was clear to us that we would not see the best of Village Master until he went over fences, as his jumping is impeccable, and he is simply made to be a Chaser!
During the race, Village Master kept himself competitive by jumping accurately and economically under James Bowen, and although he came under pressure 3 fences from home, his stamina kicked in and he was able to grind down his opposition and ran on well to lead coming to the post, eventually coming home to win by a length and three- quarters!
This is only the beginning for Village Master, who will also improve for a step-up in trip and another summer under his belt. We have lots to look forward to with this half-brother to Portrush Ted, and we are really pleased for Robin and Jill Eynon, and Jim and Claire Bryce, who are sure to have plenty of fun with him going forwards!
