GOOD AND CLEVER MAKES THE TRIP TO IRELAND
Over the weekend GOOD AND CLEVER made the trip over to Ireland to run in the Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) over 2 miles at the Dublin Racing Festival, Leopardstown Racecourse.
On only his third run over Hurdles, some may have thought this was a bold move by Warren, but having finished 3rd in a Grade 1 at Aintree on only his second start over Hurdles, Warren believed Good And Clever had earned his chance to showcase himself against Ireland’s up and coming stars- and he did not disappoint!
The journey across the water and time away from home doesn’t suit all horses, but Good And Clever took the whole experience in his stride, eating really well throughout the trip and really enjoying his early morning exercise on the track!
Come the race on Sunday, Good And Clever travelled strongly and jumped really well throughout the race under James Bowen, mercifully managing to side-step one of the Irish runner who fell in front of him, and galloping strongly all the way to the line to finish a galant 3rd to 2 of Willie Mullins horses who both look rather special themselves!
This is a huge performance from Good And Clever who will go further in time and already has entries in the Supreme Novice Hurdle and the Baring Bingham Novice Hurdles at Cheltenham in March… Watch this space! |

SHANTWOPOINTFIVE WINS AT SOUTHWELL
Almost straight off the plane from Dublin, Warren, Jim and Claire made their way to Southwell Racecourse today to meet up with Ray and Mary, the other half of the Both Ways Partnership to watch their hardy mare SHANTWOPOINTFIVE run in the Golf and Gallop Handicap Hurdle over 2m 4f.
Shantwopointfive unfortunately knocked a joint at home and so the Both Ways Partnership have had to be rather patient to see her back on track again, having run last at the beginning of December. Their patience and understanding was rewarded today in fine style today, as Shantwopointfive travelled and jumped enthusiastically throughout the race under James Bowen, taking up the lead 2 hurdles from home and positively bounding home to WIN easily by 5 lengths!
This mare has a really lovely attitude and is extremely hardy- a trait no doubt passed to her by her sire Shantou- and one which will stand her in good stead for the future, with surely more wins to come!
