BETH GETS THROUGH TO THE FINAL!

Today the BHA announced the Finalists for the 2024 Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards, and we are delighted to say that our very own Bethan Nelson has made the Final 3 of the David Nicholson Newcomer Award!

This is a HUGE achievement and so very well deserved by Beth, who came to work for us in January 2023. This was her first job in a licenced racing yard, having previously completed a 4-month work placement at Henrietta Knight’s West Lockinge yard, a work placement which was found for her whilst she was on her Foundation Course at the British Racing School.

Since joining us, Beth has gone from strength to strength and become a very valued part of the team. Her sunny disposition and big smile only add to the fact that she works very hard not only within the team, but also to improve her skills, whether that be riding, stable management or getting the horses ready at the races. She is a great little rider and is now able to ride some of the trickier and stronger horses. She is also now very adept at winning the Best Turned Out Award at the races!

To get to this stage, Beth was handpicked from hundreds of applications for the David Nicholson Newcomer Award, and has been interviewed on 2 separate occasions by the judges. She represented herself extremely well and the judges were rightly impressed, sending her through to the final.

The Final round of judging takes place on Monday 26th February at Ascot Racecourse, where HRH The Princess Royal will be the guest of honour, and the winners announced by Ed Chamberlin at the evening Awards Ceremony.
