KEEP RUNNING WINS AT TAUNTON
KEEP RUNNING put in a bold front-running performance to WIN the Novice Handicap Chase over 2 miles at Taunton today. He and jockey James Bowen made the running from flag-fall and jumped fluently and efficiently throughout the race, bringing their rivals under pressure one by one behind them. Turning in, James asked Keep Running for a little bit more and he galloped on gamely all the way to the line to win by 1 and three-quarter lengths.
It is really pleasing to see Keep Running get his head in front, as he was a little bit unlucky not to win last time out, being beaten only half a neck on that occasion. He has taken to Chasing really well, and improved for each run he has had- he was an unlucky faller first time out, came on in leaps and bounds second time out to finish second, and then come on again this time out to win. We love progress!!!
We are also delighted to have trained our first winner for owners Julie and Lee Fowler, who sent us Keep Running and their other horse He Knows Better (owned in partnership with Mrs Isobel Webb) at the beginning of this season, having previously been trained by Harry Whittington until he handed his licence in at the end of last season. This certainly won’t be the last time we see their colours in the Winners Enclosure!
