| PREMIER rounded off our 2-year-old runners for the year in fine style by WINNING the DragonBet Nursery Handicap over 1 mile at Bath last Thursday under a fine ride from Finley Marsh.
Premier jumped well out of the stalls and travelled strongly throughout the race, making headway with 2 furlongs to go before showing a really tough attitude to stay on best when bumped around inside the final furlong, coming home in front by a neck! This was his fourth run, and he certainly put all his experience to good use to gain this well- deserved win.
Premier was our sixth individual winner from our small string of twelve 2-year-old runners this year, giving us an impressive 50% win strike rate. Indeed, out of 52 runs, we have gained 8 wins overall, bringing our overall strike rate for the 2-year-olds to a very competitive 15.4%, which is up there with some of the top Flat Yards!
This has been a venture that Warren and the team has really enjoyed, and one we intend to repeat come next spring. For now, the 2-year-olds are enjoying a well-earned winter break and enjoying their daytimes in the field. This will give them a chance to rest and strengthen over the winter before coming back in the New Year for their 3-year-old campaigns.
