RUFF JUSTICE WINS AT YARMOUTH

We have a new summer venture here at Rhonehurst this year- 13 two-year-old flat horses to run!
They are a lovely bunch bought from the Doncaster, Newmarket and French Breeze-Up Sales by Tessa Greatrex for owners Jim and Claire Ltd.

A daughter of Without Parole, Ruff Justice made her racecourse debut at Windsor at the beginning of June where she ran a promising race and learnt plenty. Warren was sure there was plenty of improvement to be come from her second time out, and she proved him right!

Last Friday saw Ruff Justice head to Yarmouth to run in the EBF Restricted Maiden Fillies’ Stakes over 6 furlongs, partnered again by Eddy Greatrex. The pair jumped well out of the stalls and traveled nicely throughout the race under a bit of cover, 2 furlongs from home the pace lifted and Ruff Justice took a couple of strides to pick up, before bounding clear of the opposition and winning comfortably by 2 and a quarter lengths!

Well done to our very versatile team of staff at home, who have much to look forward to with Ruff Justice and the rest of the Flat Horses we have in to run over the summer. Watch this space!!!

BETH RIDES IN THE RACING STAFF WEEK CHARITY RACE AT NEWBURY

Last week was Racing Staff Week, a brilliant initiative to celebrate all the hard work our staff put in day-in, day-out. Part of this week includes a number of Charity Races for the staff to take part in- which is not only a great opportunity for the staff to experience first-hand what it is like to ride in a race, but also to raise money for the brilliant charities which support the Racing Industry and Employees who work within it.

Our very own Beth Nelson took part in the Racing Welfare Stable Staff Race at Newbury last Tuesday, partnered by Jaramillo who she has a great bond with at home, and who is an absolute pro on the racecourse! Beth and Jaramillo had a great time to finish 5th in the race- the perfect prep-run for Jaramillo’s run over Hurdles tomorrow night at Stratford, and the perfect introduction to race-riding for Beth, who is keen to take part in another race very soon!!!

Thank you very much to Owners Group who very kindly allowed Beth to ride Jaramillo in the race, it was a brilliant opportunity she will never forget!
