MR JUKEBOX WINS AT EXETER
MR JUKEBOX has always shown a likeable attitude to his work at home and is a natural jumper, and on reaching the track it was clear that he was learning and improving with each run over hurdles.
Last Friday saw him head to Exeter to run in the New Inn, Alpington Handicap Hurdle over 2m 2f partnered by regular jockey Harry Bannister. This was Mr Jukebox’s first try in a handicap, and also a step up in trip for him, so we were keen to see where he figured in comparison to his rivals. The pair sat midfield throughout the race and travelled sweetly whilst jumping with fluency, and came to take up the lead 2 hurdles from home, travelling much the best of the field. Landing over the last, Harry got after Mr Jukebox and they went clear of their rivals and came home 5 lengths ahead of the rest.
This was a great win for Mr Jukebox and for owners Turner-Keeley, who have been really patient with this horse and allowed him to learn and improve at his own speed throughout the season. Hopefully this can be the first of many wins for Mr Jukebox, who will likely have another run before going out on his summer holiday.
That was our 40th winner of the NH season (so far) which is our best total since the 2017/18 season! A huge thank you must go to all the team for their continued hard work, and to our loyal owners for all their support over the years. We have a few chances of more winners before the season comes to a close on Saturday at Sandown, so best of luck to all connections and let’s see if we can add some more to our tally!
